Extraction Site Preservation
When removing a tooth or multiple teeth it is important that have a plan for the space left in the mouth and jaw. Wisdom teeth, by virtue of their location in the back of the mouth generally heal themselves and require no intervention. But in other areas of the mouth the jawbone can be compromised and weakened. This can allow the jaw to bend or warp, affecting your ability to chew and, in serious cases, breathe. Additionally, the void left in your mouth might allow your remaining teeth to shift.
In cases where we must preserve the site, we will install an implant if the jawbone can accommodate it, or a dental bridge, which must be installed before other teeth begin to shift.
